I'm sorry but... that's a pretty dumb outfit to wear in the temperatures of Icewind Dale... she'd die from exposure, unless someone took advantage of the giant target sign painted right on her chest first (and judging by the daggers she carries, she's obviously expecting some kind of combat). Seriously, the cleavage is completely unnecessary to make the girl in this picture sexy. Next time you draw something like this, make them wear something sensible and appropriate to the setting maybe?
I couldn't help but laugh - this artwork is completely in keeping with the huge majority of TSR artwork and in theme with fantasy art in general. Take a look at many of the tundra artworks for Dragonlance, for example - Goldmoon would've died in minutes in some of those outfits.
Uh. Right. Just because it's common in fantasy art to oversexualize and distort the female figure in anatomically impossible ways to emphasize their sexual organs does not mean that is is right, or is sensible. Just because it is the norm does not mean that is right. This might be a bit of an extreme analogy, but back in the day, slavery and racial discrimination was the norm. Is it right? Of course not. So even if it's a "norm" to oversexualize females in the media, especially in video games, it does not mean that it is the way that it should be. I mean, seriously, it's ridiculous. I admire the artist's skill and rendition, I do. I have nothing against that. But, I mean, look at those breasts, man. It's seriously air-inflated and almost as big as her face. And have you ever worn a corset? You can hardly breathe in those things, much less fight in them!
Well anyways. I just wanted to say that just because it's the norm does not mean that it's right. I agree with Swooper as well. The outfit is impractical. When designing an outfit, it should be not only aesthetically appealing, but also functional and sensible!
